The Agricultural Tour begins with a factory tour where some of the worlds finest deer leather is produced. You will see the full process which takes raw deer hide and becomes the finest finished deer leather ready to be exported to top fashion designers such as Gucci and Prada.

It’s then time to sit back and enjoy a short bus ride to Pleasant Point where the tour will stop for morning tea. You will then visit the locally owned taxidermist who have a 60 year history in the industry producing many hunting trophies for customers within New Zealand and abroad. You will follow the process from when the animal arrives, through various stages of processing, right through to the finished product. The viewing area is not to be missed as it has a great range of animal trophies that have been completed for both New Zealand and International clients.

Hop back on the bus for another ride through the scenic countryside to the township of Geraldine to enjoy a relaxing lunch break in one of the finest cafes. Take some time to explore the heart of Geraldine and make the most of the retail opportunities Geraldine has to offer. There are a number of local and New Zealand made products available.

Next you are off to have a real South Canterbury farming experience where there is something for young and old to see and experience including shearing demonstrations, feeding and playing with lambs, watching a sheepdog in action, all with a traditional woolshed afternoon tea. You will then get to hand-feed and pet a tame Red Deer who just loves human attention. Try some deer antlers on for size and learn about the process of obtaining and uses of deer velvet. See herds of Red Deer and on this farm the worlds largest population of White Deer.

Following this you have a short rural drive to the last stop of the tour. You will be able to get up close and personal with some very special Alpacas Pinto, Fernando, Ferrari and All Natural. Have your own photo shoot, petting, leading and hand feeding them. Then take them for a leisurely walk along the river, if you are lucky they may decide to play in the water. Then relax and enjoy the ride back into central Timaru.

Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea are all included in the tour price for adults and children.
